Due to the deficiency of BRCA1 and BRCA2 the DNA cannot be repaired efficiently and leads to death of the cells. Ordinary cells do not reproduce their DNA like the cancer cells.

Normal cells have homologous repair operating that helps to survive the slowdown of Parp. A Cancer cell found in fast growing tumors is more responsive to parp inhibitors. The breast cancer therapies involvinf parp inhibitors help to reduce parp and repairs damaged DNA.
